What are we doing for Christmas?

Christmas is a fantastic time for us to be reaching out to our community with the hope of Jesus

We’re going to be doing that in a range of ways this year and this page is here to introduce us to them and let you know how you can be involved.

Reverse advent Calendar

Claire launched our reverse advent calendar initiative at harvest.  If you missed it but would  like to see her presentation you can see it here. If you would like to think about the kind of things to put into your box take a look at the flyers here.

Advent Calendar Giveaway

In late November, we are going to be giving away advent calendars with Christmas cards for people to use to invite people to Christmas activities and more importantly to get to know their neighbours.

IIt’s important to state the idea of this is not to give away as many advent calendars as possible, but to think about people with whom we can begin to start a relationship by giving them an advent calendar. Let’s think of people local to us, our neighbours on the street. Also, please don’t think this is something just for children. We have found that some of the most receptive people have been adults who are longing to get to know the community.

We’ve made an online form so that you can let us know how many calendars you would like to give to friends and neighbours and can let us know where you’re going to deliver them (so that we don’t have everybody delivering to the same person)

The Christmas Experience

A free and immersive walk-through tour of the first Christmas.

December 4th – 10th – We’ll soon launch our website with booking detatils

We’re transforming the church building so you can experience Christmas as never before! Meet the characters from the first Christmas, hear their tale and join their wonder at the greatest story ever told. Enjoyable for all ages, children are invited to come dressed in nativity costumes.

This is a big project with a core team of people organising different elements. We will need some help, both with a physical set up and set down on the 4th and 10th, and also with serving refreshments and stewarding throughout the day on the 10th in particular. Use the button below to help.

Carols by Candlelight

Monday 19th December 7pm

Get a taste of Christmas with traditional carols, mulled wine, a community choir and accounts from the first Christmas – all lit by hundreds of candles.

To help us we will need a team of people to help turn the church around after the Sunday service on the 18th of December. If you could help with that please do get in touch.

Carols in the Pubs

Wednesday 21st 8.30pm at the Crown

Why not join us in the pub, the Wednesday before Christmas as we sing some traditional and local carols?

Speak to James Powell for more details

Christmas Eve

Family Carols – 2pm Christmas Eve

Join us for fun for all the family as we discover the meaning of Christmas, sing some carols and do some acting – children are invited to come dressed as characters from the nativity.

Midnight Communion – 11:30pm Christmas Eve –  See in Christmas the best way with a short communion service.

Christmas Day

9:30am – Christmas Day

We’re all together on Christmas morning and we’d love to see you there! Children are invited to bring a present they’ve opened and we’ll celebrate Jesus’ birth together. There will also be a short communion after this service for those who would like it.

Hope Explored

Coming in January an opportunity to explore the hope that Christmas offers us. Could it be that there is more to all this than you ever imagined?

Please bear in mind that this course is coming up as you have conversations with friends and family.
