Our service on Sunday will be Morning Praise.
Thanks to Chris Musther, our PCC secretary, for the following information:
On Monday evening the PCC discussed our current Covid messages in light of the removal of legal restrictions in February 2022 and therefore the implications for services at All Saints. The following decisions have been made and will be in effect from this coming Sunday (20th March)
- Social Distancing Restrictions.
Despite the removal of all Legal social distancing restrictions, we acknowledged that a number still wanted to remain careful. Therefore it was agreed that the central block of chairs in front of the pulpit would remain marked off as socially distanced. The restrictions would be removed from all other seating areas, however cards will be made available for people to indicate if they wish the seats next to them to be left vacant.
- Ventilation/ Sanitiser
It was decided that the current ventilation and hand sanitiser arrangements will remain in place.
- Track & Trace
The church was contacted directly and advised to remove the Track and Trace QR code as this service is ending. It was agreed to remove the requirement to register and take down the signs.
- Face Masks
It was decided that whilst we acknowledge that the legal requirements to wear face masks have been removed, we still want to demonstrate care and respect for one another and therefore we ask you to consider wearing masks as per the government’s guidance and especially whilst singing.
- Occasional Offices
The decision was taken to remove all social distancing measures from Weddings and for Baptisms, we agreed to move these back into the main 10 am service. However, we would advise congregation members a week before that this is the case so that they can make an informed decision to attend or not.
- Online Offerings
It was agreed that we would continue to put our services online as we are doing so already.
The Children’s Area,
It was agreed that this would remain where it is ie at the front of the south side of the church, until after Easter. This would then be put back in place towards the back of the South aisle from the first Sunday in May 2022.
- Holy Communion
It was agreed that the communion would be offered in two kinds with effect from 27th March. You can either have the wafer as it is to date or you can have this dipped into the wine by the priest before eating this. The priest will ask your preference and a second cup will be
consecrated for those of you who require Gluten Free. The covid measures during consecration and distribution will remain in place.
If you have any questions or feedback, please speak to either Ali, Ann or James in the first instance.
Please can you help?
Now that the church hall is available to hire again it is proving popular for birthday parties at the weekends. Beth is looking for a few people to help by opening up and locking the hall occasionally. Please speak to her if this is something you could do.
Our first Praying Together Event led by Ben and with members of the graft team will be in the church hall on Tuesday 29th April at 7.45. Please try to join us.
- Maundy Thursday 14th April in the church hall arriving 5.45 for meal at 6pm.
A family Meal (jacket potatoes and fillings + desserts/cakes)
All welcome. Nearer the time there will be sign- up sheets so that we know who is coming
and what food people will be bringing.
During the evening there will be an interactive telling of the Passover story, the Last Supper and washing each other’s hands. Any queries to Liz Hardie.
- Good Friday
This year we are invited to join Totley Rise Methodists in their Quiet Garden in the afternoon at 2.30 for a “Watching at the Cross” service until just after 3pm. We will be gathering outside church at 2pm to walk together behind a cross down through Totley to join them.
If the weather is bad the service will take place in the church.
- Saturday 16th April 11.30 – Easter Egg Hunt in the church grounds.
- Easter Sunday 10.00am Service
Our Annual Parochial Church Meeting will be held on Sunday 24th April immediately following the 10.00am service. If you are not yet on the Electoral Roll, please speak to Chris Booth our Electoral Roll officer. You need to be on the roll to vote at the meeting. More details about PCC vacancies and nomination forms will be available in the next few weeks.
Donations For Ukraine
Finally……If you were in church last Sunday you may have seen the stream of people coming down the drive with donations for Ukraine as a result of Liz Hayden’s post on the Totley Facebook page. By one o’clock there was hardly room to move in church!
By teatime on Monday, after an amazing team effort, it had all been sorted and boxed and at least 13 car loads delivered to a central collection point near the Parkway. Thanks to Liz and Neil for co-ordinating it all and to everyone who helped in any way.
