A Message from the Wardens – 14th October 2021

Dear Friends,

The Confirmation Service last Monday was an inspiring occasion and it was good to have friends and family there to support Isabel and Phoebe and to know that others were able to follow the live streaming.

On Sunday we will be welcoming Ben Tanner to lead the service and Adam Tankard from Compassion UK to share news of their work.

Thank you for all the generous gifts for the Archer Project and to Neil for delivering them. This week we will have the opportunity to bring donations for David Kereto’s work in Kenya.

With the shops busy displaying Halloween goods we are encouraged to send a positive alternative message by lighting up a window during half term week including words like Light, Hope and Love. The Streets of Light initiative was started by St Thomas, Crookes five years ago and has spread to many parts of Sheffield. We can make it as simple or ambitious as we feel able. By registering for the Streets of Light Trail you could be part of an interactive trail and receive an email giving helpful hints and creative suggestions. https://www.streetsoflight.co.uk/sign-up

Christmas Angels

Calling all knitters! This December we hope to “Angel bomb” Totley with knitted angels and thereby bless and send Christmas wishes to our community. The last time we did this, it was very well received. The angels are NOT intended just for children to find which is why they were put into place under cover of darkness. Of course we are delighted if children do find them on their way to school too. If you can knit a few angels please let Liz Hayden know (contact details available from the Wardens). I have a simple pattern and wool if needed. The pattern is not complicated and even as a beginner you could knit an angel in an evening. We need about 500 (or more) to cover as wide an area as possible. I expect to be “bombing” around the 15th/16th December Thanks. Liz Hayden

Just a reminder about the LICC survey mentioned last week. It would be helpful if you could complete it and send it off if you haven’t done it yet. To complete the survey, click here.

The PCC will be meeting on Monday evening and would value your prayers.
Every blessing,
Ann & James
