Thank you everyone who helped on the working morning last Saturday. During the morning the wildflower seeds were sown in the area in the grounds that had been prepared earlier. They at least will have benefitted from the rain this week! There will be another working morning tomorrow (Friday 1st) from 9.30. There are still jobs to be done inside if the weather is wet.
On Sunday we will be starting a new preaching series on the theme of Generosity and Giving. We will be welcoming Rev Chris Stebbing to preach and preside at communion. As we didn’t have a harvest thanksgiving this year there will be practical opportunities to be generous for the next three Sundays in different ways:
3rd October – food donations for the Grace Foodbank. Current needs are for corned beef, white rice (ideally 500g bags), laundry detergent tablets, shampoo, shower gel (ideally gender neutral). They have plenty of tea and baked beans but other donations across the range are welcome.
10th October – The Archer Project – donations of food like tins of beans, ravioli, soup, meatballs, vegetables, tomatoes and desserts. Also cereals, tea, coffee, biscuits, cuppa soups and snacks. Toiletries – razors, shaving foam, shower gel, shampoo, spray deodorants and toothbrushes. They would also welcome sleeping bags, socks, hats and gloves.
17th October – David Kereto’s project in Kenya. An opportunity to bring the coins we collect or notes to continue our support for the rescue centre.
Another practical way of helping – Dronfield Christian Aid is planning to run a second hand book and games stall at the Dronfield Fair on Saturday 23rd October as a fundraising activity. If you have any books or board games you can donate, please contact Liz Hardie on 01246 298110. She can collect any donations from church or your house.
Every blessing, Ann & James
