Whilst we are happy to hear the good news that quite a few of you have been vaccinated this week we are also aware of the pressure many others are under- working long hours in front of a screen, missing human contact, supporting children learning at home and following the news. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have written an open letter to the nation inviting people to pray. The full letter is attached but an extract below includes the link to resources to help.
One thing we can all do is pray. We hope it is some consolation to know that the church prays for the life of our nation every day. Whether you’re someone of faith, or not, we invite you to call on God in prayer. Starting on 1 February we invite you to set aside time every evening to pray, particularly at 6pm each day. More than ever, this is a time when we need to love each other. Prayer is an expression of love. A number of resources will be made available at www.ChurchofEngland.org/PrayerForTheNation
This week the Grace Foodbank has sent a newsletter thanking people for their support and describing what they were able to do to support people at Christmas and during the school holidays. It is an inspiring read but not easy to reproduce here or attach so we will attempt to send it as a forwarded message.
We have been asked to let you know that there are plans to run a Lent course in the same way that we had the Advent one, via the small groups using Zoom, with an open invitation to everyone to join in. More details to follow.
Sunday’s Coffee and Chat at 11 o’clock details can be obtained form the Wardens.
Funeral for Maurice Snowdon – webcast details are available from the Wardens, as well as details of the service sheets.
If you want to test it out ahead of time, you will be able to do this a couple of days ahead of time. It will show that the webcast isn’t ready but once the service starts, the video should load automatically.
Please also note that the webcast will be available “on demand” for 7 days after should you not be able to attend the live service.
Rachel’s message re donations: If anyone wants the link to make a donation in Dad’s memory, it is https://donate.christianaid.org.uk/Donate/Step/1?ApproachCode=A013063
Please remember Marjorie in your prayers. Maurice was 95 when he died and they had known each other since they were children at school!
With love from Ann & James.
