A Message from the Wardens – 10th December 2020

Dear Friends,

We are halfway through Advent but it feels as if Christmas is much nearer after last weekend when many people put up their lights and others got organised writing their Christmas cards. We haven’t done either yet but are enjoying seeing the fruit of other people’s efforts.

If you are free on Friday evening (11th) at 8pm Ken and Viv have sent details of the World Premier of a new musical written by Roger Jones during lockdown. It is called “Three Wise Camels” and the link below should take you to it. Should be good!

This week there are quite a few attachments. We have received a report from Soulroots and it is really encouraging to read about the work they have continued to do with our young people this year. There are also suggestions of how we can pray about their future plans.

Our Church Christmas card will be different this year. Megan Hardie is going to design a virtual card for us that we can access online and write our messages on. More details next week. We usually make a donation to a charity instead of buying cards for each other and this year we would like to make a further donation to David Kereto’s work in Kenya. The situation there is grim. A recent letter from David and details of how to donate are attached.

In the run up to Christmas it is planned to deliver a Christingle Bag to each church household. The bag will contain instructions and everything needed to make 2 Christingles, one to light at home as we celebrate Jesus coming to be the Light of the World and one to give to a neighbour.

Christmas services this year will be a mixture of in church and online this year.

Sunday 20th December

Christmas Eve

Christmas Day

5.00pm online Carol Service

4.00pm online Crib Service

9.30am IN CHURCH and ONLINE:

Christmas Praise, followed by a shortened communion service

If you are planning to come to the Christmas morning in church, please contact us to let us know how many people will be in your family group to help us arrange seating as numbers are limited because of the covid regulations.

There will be the opportunity to meet via zoom again for coffee and chat after the service on this coming Sunday. If you don’t have the joining link, please let us know.

One last thing – as your cards arrive over the next couple of weeks, please could you save the stamps. Even the ordinary ones can help raise money for The Leprosy Mission.

Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement.

With love from Ann & James
